The web knows way too much about us

Very compelling web site that is based in Denmark. It shows you exactly what web servers know about you, just by surfing onto a web page. It shows weakness’s and vulnerability in even the most secure web browsers. Some of this information is needed, such as; do you have Quicktime or AcitiveX installed; does your browser support cookies; what version of Google toolbar (if any and what version) is installed; plus various software and firmware updater’s.

Some information I am not so clear on. Why would an internet web site need to know; Can your C Drive be shown? Number of CD ROM drives and drive letter; Certificates installed; host name or network name.

Using Windows online is like surfing a virtual minefield

Windows is a Minefield on the Internet

I installed Windows onto a fresh Parallels partition. Spent five hours going to ABCNews, FoxNews, Facebook, Google, Netflix and YouTube.

I ran Norton and found 6 virus’, 512 tracking cookies and 3 attempts to access’ my computer from an unauthorized/malicious web site.

Why do Windows users put up with that?

Netflix reverse’s it’s desicion to eliminate splitting profiles among family members

The feature is used by a handful of Netfix customers. But they were a vocal handful because Netflix has decided to leave the feature alone.

Users set up accounts for each member of the household and each member can rent the movies they want to watch and build their own queue. This feature is also a good tool for parental controls and for anyone who shares a Netflix account with anyone else.

The people have spoken: Netflix will not be eliminating user profiles, the account feature that lets you split movie rentals among separate queues for a household. The company had announced the removal of profiles earlier this month, much to user dismay.
